A longtime partnership continued during the last meeting with SPPA presentations
The Upper Mississippi Waterway Association (UMWA) was hosted at its spring board meeting by the St. Paul Port Authority (SPPA).
In the meeting, the long history and support that SPPA has lent to UMWA for many years was highlighted, having been established in 1929, just a handful of years before UMWA.
SPPA Chief Development Officer Kathryn Sarnecki was featured as the key speaker, giving UMWA members an interesting look at the Port Development properties and development projects, as well as a broader view of the Minnesota Ports Association.
“I’ve been an UMWA member over 12 years,” Sarnecki said. “It’s been a great way to network and connect with folks on the river and to really learn about the industry and the challenges facing waterway shipping, and a great way to get to know the community.”
Sarnecki and Linda Williams, an UMWA board member, shared a few facts about the offices of the SPPA and the building itself, including a roof top ice rink utilized by the Minnesota Wild and others.
“UMWA would like to thank St. Paul Port Authority for the valued relationship we have shared, and for being the host location for our member update meeting and joint social event with the WIMO organization,” UMWA Executive Director Gary Williams said.
